i want one of these

i’m trying to keep the doyle man tradition alive since my gpa and dad both had one.

after the yukon expires, this would be a sweet ride, especially for a weekend camp job or napping at lunchtime with the fold-out full-size bed in the back.

another one bites the dust

well, another one of the longhorns is tying the knot this spring. i would usually have some obligatory trash talk and warnings to turn and run the other way, but anna seems super nice and a good match for my boy chetty. i can also hold out for some potential pillowfighting among the wives when we all meet up next. i’m already plotting strategy for that when we’re down for the ceremony in a few weeks time.

although bachelor party pictures aren’t officially supposed to exist, i can plot out a simple timeline of how last weekend went. the pictures will self-destruct within a week so make sure you see these now.

-> deep discussion at hwood on friday night about how the girls from 4th grade all turned out to be dogs 20 years later. facebook pictures definitely settle the “what might have been” talk.

-> semi-gay group shot at sunset while camping at san onofre. i would say that 10 years ago, this picture would have weighed 500 pounds less.

-> after a few drinks, chetty was excited to show how big his brain was. phammy was definitely enjoying it.

-> did i mentioned we had a keg of beer there and we finished it within 6 hours of being at the beach? for reference, a keg of beer is 15.5 gallons.

-> the winningest boat racing team of the weekend displaying their team unity:

-> and…the weekend is not complete without the requisite picture of ozzie not being able to handle his business. here, the people walking under the i-405 bridge near irvine were being rudely greeted with regurgitated ketel one from above – you’re welcome:

plethora of new links

although i haven’t posted all that much lately, i am still collecting the good pictures and links to share. the last weeks have had hospital visits, business trips, a bachelor party, and one potential instance of swine flu. kidding.

kill some time online indoors with the impending cloudy and cool weather by checking out these links:

-> most excellent artwork all done with ballpoint pen [crookedbrains]

-> collection of games that people have converted from old NES or Sega to browser-based games via flash, like super mario and contra [amog.com]

-> guy has recreated guantanamo/abu ghraib scenes purely with lego’s [flickr]

-> keyword searching through flickr – this one is of “baby” – scroll down just past halfway [flickr]

-> i know that tri still thinks i have some indian (or afghan) heritage, and i have to keep denying it. after reading this article, he should now know for sure from experience that it’s impossible [bbc.co.uk]

-> middle-aged woman in a wheelchair uses pot and booze to lure teens and then sexually assault them. the story only stands out because it would take much heavier intoxicants to even begin to befriend this woman [katu2]

i hope i was able to at least elicit some emotion (happy, sad, regret) after reading these.

quiet asian syndrome

yellow people contribute their fair share of society degradation (bad driving, 14 people living in a 3-bedroom house, having the market cornered on gold camry’s, etc.) but most of that can be overlooked after a good bowl of pho.

i was not aware of a recent discovery – QAS (quiet asian syndrome):
