this is a great bbc documentary covering the westboro baptist church based in topeka, kansas. this is the cult-ish christian group who pickets at fallen iraqi war veteran funeral services, somehow believing that jesus is punishing america for accepting homosexuality by killing our soliders as retribution. yeah, that makes total sense.
while their speech and opinions are protected by free speech, it just seems like the wrong times to broadcast their message. why not just try to attract members to their church using more conventional methods. if their ideas had merit, more people would take part in their cause. there are very few people who agree with what they are into. most of the “members” of the church actually consist of the descendants of the church patriarch, who have obviously been brainwashed into keeping his ideology alive.
