giants among men

the term ‘ballot-stuffing’ was brought up at least a couple times during the all-star game last night, as if to echo popular nationwide response to getting 4 giants as starters – matt cain, pablo sandoval, buster posey, and melky cabrera. those critics were quickly silenced by their awesome performances last night – showing the doubters that they were not starting only because of some crazy fans. the other teams were just sorry to admit that their marketing departments don’t run as well as the giants do – if they even have marketing departments. i can imagine the royals marketing department to be a guy splitting time picking the stuffed animal giveaways and doing some field work before games.

matt cain – 2 IP, 1H, 1K, 0.00 ERA

melky cabrera – 2-3, 2R, HR, 2RBI, 1.67 SLG and MVP

pablo sandoval – 1-2, 1R, 3 RBI, 1.5 SLG

buster posey was pretty quiet, but he still deserves a mention

the announcers said something yesterday that i hadn’t known. i already knew that willie mays was one of the best players of all-time, but he was an all-star 24 TIMES. derek jeter had 13 years under his belt and a-rod did 14, but can they do another 10 YEARS beyond that? forget it.
